ROCKHOUSELIVE MIDTOWN
RockHouse Live Midtown was launched just a year after the launch of RockHouse Live Memphis, opening its doors in August of 2014. Really more of an opportunity than anything, RHL Midtown was borne from the legendary Poplar Lounge, a bar that had operated in Memphis for decades, and has since become a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike.
RHL Midtown highlights the diversity of the RHL locations. RHL will never be “cookie cutter” and the differences in our locations yet familiar similarities, allow patrons to revel in all of our locations. Originally the “World Famous” Poplar Lounge for nearly 30 years, the venue has hosted ZZ Top for their video “My Head’s in Mississippi,” as well as serving as a key set for Craig Brewer’s Oscar-winning film, “Hustle and Flow”. The building itself was built in 1922, and was original a car dealership. There is a basement that many say is a haunted. But we know it as a cozy environment with a “dive bar” feel, with karaoke every single night and live music on select occasions.
